Welcome to The Invisible Empire – The Togethernes camp that takes place in Brösarp in a beautiful surrounding during two days (from the 6th – 8th of August 2010). It will be the summer event that everyone is talking about but few have experienced (we have a very limited number of places). It is an international co-production between the Institute, NEON, Irmar (FR), System / Central Theatre (ED) and Club de la Faye (DK).

This summer August 6th to 8th Club de la Faye has been invited by the Swedish performance group, Institutet, to participate in the three-days performance, The Invisible Empire. Join us in the experimental challenge of our group’s manifestations in ‘a place without corners’, ‘a place where fear is locked, and death an unknown word’. Limited number of tickets available.

“What beauty is hidden in the child, what beauty is hidden in the woman, what beauty is hidden in the creature…
Since the 18th Century the legendary tale about Kreaturet (in english: The Creature) has been told to Danish children when their parents found them too rude to handle. Kreaturet was said to be a freak-baby by birth, born into the city sewers, matured into darkness as a four headed, eight-armed and eight-legged black creature, living in the humid cellars of Copenhagen. How the story started no one really knows; there is as many versions told in different tongues, as there are grandparents. One thing is certain though – the cellars of Copenhagen hide the truth about Kreaturet, a truth that only a few people know.
Through many decades the children of Copenhagen have been playing a game called Kreaturet in the cellars of Copenhagen. Dancing and singing to please the creature hiding in the shadows. In the 1980′s a group of socially challenged children from the red-light district started playing the game, inspired by the blinking lights of the strip joints, they went into the game more passionately than any other children before them. But in 1988 on that winter evening when all electricity died in the city, something went horrifically wrong in the game. Children disappeared and others lost touch. No one has played the game since that night… Untill now…
The group who were children back in the 80′s have been reunited and will play the game once more. Some motivated by the desire to solve what happened on that dark night in 1988, some skeptical or in denial, others just want to dance and sing for Kreaturet.

THE SWAMP
Manifested in Copenhagen, at the Jazzhouse.
All over the world, in different times and in different places, people have been dissapearing, being swallowed by the dangerous waters of The Swamp. For the first time in many years, the people of The Swamp have reappeared, stirring the ground on which you walk.
Behind heavy red drapes flirtatious dancers and feather dressed women will welcome you, bienvenue, bon jour, the time is ripe, are you?!
Cherie et Cherie: The girls were born as twins. When being born they came out at the same time, resulting in their mothers death. The girls travelled with their beloved father from town to town, country to country, always with the same act in a different circus. Years later when sleeping in a worn down hotel in New Orleans, The Swamp took them…
Memories are precious to him, no matter how small or insignificant. Romances too, no matter how shallow. One night, a smalltalk, a beach. Or a shell found somewhere, a stone even. He often lingers in nostalgia.
The Swamp was what lay in the end of the longing. After some long, drunk night, singing and dancing, he woke up in The Swamp. The place where he may feel at home at last.

KILLER BRIDES
A Road-trip and A Vengeance
“If you can’t eat it and you can’t fuck it – kill it!”
Bride: Hello honey..
Boris: Hello dear. Meet me at the Broken Hearts Inn, Las Vegas Boulevard.
Bride: I will. I love you.
Boris: You´re my favorite. Wait for me there..
Some years ago, in a worn down motel in Las Vegas, The Broken Hearts Inn to be exact, a group of young women slowly filled the front room, the room where one checks in, one by one they entered the building, all carrying suitcases and all with tired and sad looks on their faces. One other thing connected them, they were all brides, dressed in white and ready to meet the man who had promised to be by their side. What they didn’t know, was that they had one more thing in common:
Bride A: What are you doing here..?
Bride B: I’m waiting for my fiancé..
Bride A: So am I.. What is the name of your fiancé?
Bride B: His name is Boris.
Bride A: Thats funny, I’m also waiting for my fiancé, and his name is Boris too..
They were all engaged to the same man. The man never shows..
As the brides find out they have all been deceived, they call out for revenge and disappear into the night.
The brides were seen once more and after that they were gone for good. Maybe they´re out there, tormenting the streets in their wild quest to revenge the russian man who got away. To inflict pain on Boris, the same pain they felt when they realized they were brides never to be…

SIRENS & DESERTERS
Manifested at Institutet (Sweden) and Roskilde Festival (Denmark).
Rotten perfumed scent in the room // musical boxes // samples of skin / hair / spit / nails, must be collected // duties are set to sea and taken by the water // drowning // revenge the man who got away…
Club de la Faye will manifest them selves as the weakened sirens, who now seek vengeance over Odyssus, the man who got away. The Sirens will regain their power, if they succeed in seducing the guests into participation in a ritual, a new ritual, where they are asked to sacrifice what stands in the way of giving inn to the world of music.
“When you fall in love, you always give a piece of yourself. When we ask for a piece of your skin, you are leaving something behind. It all becomes a grand love affair. Recreating the man who got away…“
The sirens, who lived in a meadow on an island off the coast of Sicily, were irresistible and lured sailors to their deaths. Those who listened to their songs could never leave and would therefore die on the banks of the island. So said the myth.
No ship had ever passed the isle, not until the day Odysseus arrived. Following Circe’s advice, Odysseus plugged the ears of his crew with wax, so they could not hear anything. The crew only knew ‘the song’s danger but nothing of its beauty’. So they could row ‘with all their strength’ moving the ship away from the Sirens. It was in fact the task of Odysseus’ crew: ‘The laborers must be fresh and concentrate as they look ahead, and must ignore whatever lies to one side’ thereby fulfilling themselves through work, wrote Adorno and Horkheimer. Odysseus instead is able to listen to the song remaining ‘bound impotently to the mast’ of the ship. The bonds prevent him from being seduced and the danger presented by the Sirens is subsequently neutralized. As a result of this the song of the Sirens is completely perverted: it ‘becomes a mere object of contemplation – becomes art.

The Reapers Lodge – A Full Fiction
Club de la Fayes work entails creating a unique and specific fiction for the given arrangement. In this case the idea of The Reapers Lodge was developed. The Reapers Lodge was imagined as a group of people who once in a while would appear to facilitate paradigm shifts in the world of music. The performers and the setting then acted as elements in this fiction.
As a part of the Full Fiction idea, every detail in the arrangement was thoroughly developed to fit the fiction and the specific place. The table was decadently set in a forrest-like setting, the smell of sugar, bird-sounds and monotonous voices lay in the air, all to seduce the guests into fiction.

In cooperation with different venues and organizations, Club de la Faye ‘fiction pimps’ situations, thereby constructing experiences, creating spaces in between reality and fiction – meant to open new sides in the people and the places involved.
In this series of Boris Production, Club de la Faye worked with a B-Movie theme. The series include: The Bride She’ll Never Be, Mystery Dream, Killer Brides, The Sinful Assistant and Harvest Moon.
